2008 All INJURY REPLACEMENT FANTASY TEAM
Injuries have a hugh impact on Fantasy Lineups. The ability to "get on the CORRECT replacement is key to winning. Here are the players, that you may have stolen from the guy who actually drafted that team/position.
QB1 = Tony Pike
The wheel of Injury fortune was unkind to Cincy this season. Brian Kelly is so good at coaching QB's, he prepared someone to start and play well week after week. Finally Tony Pike has emerged as the likely future STAR! Maybe QB D. JONES (who transferred in from ND) should transfer AGAIN. Washington State awaits Mr. Jones!
QB2 = Jerrod Johnson
The Aggies figured out they played in the Spread happy Big 12 and began to pass just as Johnson got his shot due to the INJ of QB McGee. He basically played as well as we expected McGee to do.
RB1 = Vai Taua (INJURY REPLACEMENT PLAYER OF THE YEAR!)
Luke Lipp sunk his ship early and several fantasy owners went down as well...losing a sure fire winner drafted with their #2 draft pick just can't be made up.... unless you happen to know Nevada is just a system RB school....and any Backup given the ball will produce from the Pistol. Taua SHOT me up in all my leagues mid-season...and when my dominant roster took it's own fatal torpedo (Andre Anderson, who was drafted to be my #1 RB in all leagues was lost for the season!) Taua was there to pick up the slack (negated the impact of AA's loss).
RB2 = Dennis "captain" Kennedy
Allen went down and the split carry situation was over! Suddenly DK was the NAME BRAND you wanted to sport! My friend Gonzo sadly cut him the week before he became the hot commodity....Vince Mullins picked him up . . . with his points finished 4th...and Gonzo finished 5th .... just some 40 points back of him....40 KENNEDY points used against him! LOL
RB3 Darren Evans
Nothing cures a split carry nightmare like a prolonged INJ to the competition (Lewis). Beamer traditionally likes 1 RB to feature .... Evans has done a fantastic job, considering VT's inconsistancy.
RB4 Cedric Peerman
A grinder who started making some good coffee once M Simpson was "behind the bars of injury!" Let's hope for him, they don't assign roommates based on LAST NAME!
WR1 Brandon Banks
Deon Murphy going down left a ton of receptions on the table, and the Juco transfer from Bakerfield, CA pulled his butt up to the table. He's small so he needed a booster seat...but he ate up more receptions than most the highly drafted WR's such as Regis "zook quote....We are going to get Regis 15-20 touches a game" BENN....
WR2 Kerry Meier
Nothing like a team's #1 WR going down...and a SR QB who can't see the field as a QB...who's tough enough to go ahead and play WR in the Big 12. The Fields INJ allowed Meier to surPLANT him as the top Target at KU. I watched him take a lot of shots this season, so I knew it was only a matter of time before he was INJed himself. Still, that kind of toughness hasn't been seen in Kansas since Jordy Nelson left K-State (well only last season!) We Miss you Jordy Nelson!
WR3 Damien Williams
You might not realize it, but Vidal Hazelton's long ab INJ and David Ausbury's INJs.... opened up the door for a new crop of WR's. In steps Transfer D. Williams, who still is the leading WR heading into the final 2 games..... in which P Turner should FINISH the season as the Top WR of the Trojans. PETE C knows how to spotlight his SR's at the end of the season in the Cake walks: ND and UCLA qualify!
WR4 David Richmond
Kevin Jurovich's season ending INJ disappointed many.... and exeptations of DR's dominance was high. He floundered mid-season, only to find his stride in NOVEMBER. Apologies to those burned by my sit recommendation a few weeks ago.
TE Garrett Graham
In BCS leagues, I expect he was drafted...but in 120 D-1 leagues he was likely not. Beckum was all bent up this season....and 1 game I watched him DROP 3 passes! He was INJed for the season the next game, and I thought to myself...heck, that may benefit Wisky!
anyone I missed? ring in.
