Temple Owls

The Owls are a 7pt favorite travelling to Army to open the season. Dare we say, expectations for Al Golden's Owls this year? Are they a MAC contender with DiMichele at QB? If he stays healthy, the Owls have a shot considering they are returning 18 starters from last year's team.

I saw earlier this year that all 22 starters returned. Plus they are coming off a season of horrible turnover differential. If Travis Shelton can capture some of his 2006 glory (kick returner extraordinaire, cousin of Devin Hester) and the defense can stop some MAC foes, it would not shock me to see them in a bowl game!

In my Sports Investment Policy Statement for 2008, Temple as a dog is one of my favorite bets. Army is horrible, but Temple as a fave sounds like a sucker bet.

PS - I think Virginia Tech is HIGHLY overrated this year.

As Temple's #1 fan and ex-season ticket holder, you are getting a sucker line...it's 3.5 most places so i dont know where you got that....Temple's making a bowl and 6-7 wins is almost a definite. Draft Adam DiMichele if you can.

Does John Chaney still coach this team? :)

Vince, I'm an aggressive bettor...could you help me with my Sports Investment Policy Statement for 2008?

Matt J. If you truly were Temple's #1 fan than you would know that the point spread is 7. Take a look at vegas.com under gambling, followed by latest lines. Its there as we speak.

Returning 18 starters from a 10 win team is one thing but from a 4-8 team doesnt equal a chance at a confrence championship. They also pick up cent michigan on the schedule this year. They may be better this year but with the tougher schedule another 4-4 confrence record may be on the horizon.

Vince, VaTech being overrated kind of goes with the territory. Then again, it's nearly common knowledge how deep my disdain of the ACC is at this point, so take that with a pillar of salt if you're not of the same mindset.

On Temple ... they've been a favorite ten times in the last eight years. This is kind of uncharted territory for them, so I'd probably stay away. I've realized that every week the bettors miss 2-3 lines pretty badly, but I don't think this is one of them. I wouldn't conclusively bet one way or another here. Also, keep in mind Temple allowed 21 non-offensive points last year against Army too.

Where are all my Temple Owl fans? A 35-7 point thrashing. Expectations are up in North Philadelphia. Watch out UCONN, there are already billboards all over Philly calling this game JUSTICE and REVENGE after last year's brutal home town officiating cost them the game.
